Name MNX Recordings
Occupation Scottish Record Label
Who runs it? MNX Recordings was set up in 2001 by Dan Monox to release music he felt represented his clubnight, Monox at Soundhaus.
So it’s techno music then? Well, it’s more the darker side of underground electro and techno with an industrial edge.
Who can we expect to see on a MNX recording? Artists who have contributed to the label so far include Cymbol, Mark Hawkins, Ibrahim Alfa, DJ ESP, Adam X and the Belgian industrial legends Sonar.
Anything new I could spend my pennies on? Yes indeedy. Next up will be the release of the label’s first full length album, Tales Of Ignorance by the Bulgarian dark electro don Manasyt (pictured) - currently promoting the record across Europe - and will be playing live at Monox for the launch party on Sat 19 May. The album will be released on the following Monday. Also, as an extra treat, Dave Tarrida is playing the second room that night.
Sounds great. I hope there are more releases in the offing? Dan Monox ain’t one to rest on those laurels. In the coming months there are new singles due out from new boy Cestrian, aka Ali Renault, who is better known for his Italo disco styles, but will be keeping it in the darker vein for MNX, also from Lory D (Rome), a mysterious group hailing from Slovenia called Faustian Pact and releases from Sonar with remixes from Adam X and Ultradyne (Detroit)
Where can I get my hands on some of these goodies? As luck would have it Dan Monox is also a buyer for one of Scotland’s top record stores, Rubadub in Glasgow. So if you pop round there, the man himself will point you in the right direction. (Sandra Marron)
