The festival at the forefront of innovative music videos
A whole new type of manufactured pop will find its way to Edinburgh this August. For like Gorillaz and The Archies before him, POL Arida does not exist as flesh and bone, but only on screen as a variety of pixels, animation and imagination.
Born on the vast virtual world that is Second Life, Arida is in real life a Scottish-based solo artist with an insight into building an online audience that has seen him attract attention and acclaim from both sides of the Atlantic, winning several Second Life Song Awards along the way.
He's just one of 19 exciting young indie acts from across the globe whose cutting-edge take on technological advances and big ideas will be showcased at the Indie Music Video Festival.
Having screened over 250 videos all across North America, founders Nicole Steen, Marcus Rogers and Frank Yahr will be bringing the 8th annual Festival to Edinburgh, where the likes of Argentinian thrash rockers, Thaykay, will be heard alongside Swedish punk rock upstarts, Nutmeg and the amiable pop of Australians, Clue to Kalo .
