Get sweet treats from S Luca
S Luca of Musselburgh’s Morningside café is a Mecca for chocolate lovers in the area and far beyond. Warm up on a cold winter’s evening with a cup of tea and a lovingly crafted chocolate treat. In summertime, S Luca really comes into its own, with rainbow-coloured ice creams that are the toast of the east coast.
Watch a film at the Dominion
A world away from the ubiquitous multiplex cinema experience, the four-screen Dominion Cinema is the most picturesque of Edinburgh’s independent picture houses. Its art deco interior recreates the atmosphere of 1930s Hollywood, while comfy armchairs (for a higher fee) let you recline and watch your chosen film in style.
Climb up Blackford Hill
One of Edinburgh’s famous Seven Hills, the climb up Blackford isn’t quite as rigorous as Arthur’s Seat and is perhaps less majestic than Calton Hill, but its panoramic vistas over the capital’s unparallelled skyline are treasured by hillwalkers who would rather avoid busier peaks. Watch the city whir gently in the distance as you lay back and enjoy the tranquillity.
