Edinburghers get rather used to their city being turned into a vessel for internationally-reaching performances and concerns/a gentleman’s club for members of the stand-up comedy fraternity every August. It’s kinda nice, then, to see one of the festivals striving for an actual connection back to the city. Step forward Jonathan Mills (that’s him up there), Director of the Edinburgh International Festival, who this year is theming the whole Festival around the city’s sparkling history as a haven for thought and logic during the Enlightenment. He’ll be explaining why at a free talk at the Hub this fortnight.
