Tom Brosseau - Posthumous Success

Bobbins to the album title, Tommy B; this finger pickin’ North Dakota man won’t have to wait until his expiration date to enjoy basking in a little glory. His style has evolved from the basic one voice, one acoustic guitar set-up (as seen supporting Cat Power on the Renfrew Ferry a few Triptychs ago) into a more layered noise, and a very warm, gentle, playful one it is too. There are beautifully eerie Bon Iver echoing vocals on ‘Boothill’, scuzzy guitar fuzz on ‘You Don’t Know My Friends’ and stripped bare country on ‘Miss Lucy’. All in all, a success from a folk-blues storyteller.
