Coming of age party - Science Festival - City Art Centre 6 April
1000 people came to this 21st birthday party and enjoyed an evening competing with their children to enjoy the seven floors of activities and exhibitions.
The party was launched by the Science Festival Director, Simon Gage, who stepped forward to correctly state Newton's 3rd law and to allow the party to be launched by the firing of a spectacular potato cannon at his head. Well, it was a balloon dressed up as his head at this point. The cannon certainly went off. His head escaping despite the 80mph potato flying across the room.
The highlight of the weekend events had been the wanderings of friendly ASIMO who had met 7,500 people in 2 days. The Festival continues until 18th April with coverage http://www.list.co.uk/events/what:science+festival/ and official programme at http://www.sciencefestival.co.uk/
