Royksopp - Junior
Royksopp are like good drugs: sweet, glistening, otherworldly and compellingly addictive. The initial headrush for their debut Melody A.M. remains that really great night out for all involved and 2005’s The Dreaming felt a little like there were a few too many smoky comedown moments amid the grand orchestrations. For their third, they’ve gone straight back to that original blissful space with mixed results. Each track is built from layers of huge creaking atomic bass and gossamer synth lines and dizzy vocal lines from an array of breathless dolls and while they miss the sweet spot on a few occasions there are enough moments of effervescent electro pop to delight head and feet.
