Jade Goody's cancer spreads
Jade Goody's cancer has undergone another operation to relieve her from the pain of her cancer, which has reportedly spread to her brain.
Jade Goody's cancer has spread to her brain.
The terminally ill reality TV star underwent another operation last night (02.03.09) in a bid to alleviate her suffering.
The hour long operation was to fix a blockage in her bowel. The former 'Big Brother' star has already undergone a hysterectomy and an operation to remove a golf ball sized tumour from her bowel.
News the cancer has spread from Jade's cervix, where it was initially found in August last year, to her brain comes as another blow to friends and family.
A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Jade was told the cancer was travelling freely in her blood and had spread to her brain.
"This is, of course, awful but not unexpected. She has already been told the disease is terminal. It hasn't shortened her life expectancy, which remains at weeks. But is another extremely painful reminder of what lies ahead."
Jade's spokesperson, Max Clifford, said yesterday she is hoping the operation will relieve her pain enough to allow her to spend her final days with her sons Freddie, four and Bobby, five at home.
Max said: "Jade is very fragile and it is a delicate balance between improving her condition and making it worse. She is in such pain she will put up with anything that might relieve the pressure in her abdomen.
"She wants to be at home spending the time she has left with her kids."
He added the next move would depend on how Jade responds to the surgery.
Jade has meanwhile vowed to hold the christening of Bobby and Freddie, and joked she may go dressed as a boiled egg - referring to her bald head, a result of chemotherapy treatment.
She said: "The original plan was to have the christening in a church on March 7, but we might have to bring it forward. It will definitely be fancy dress though. I might go as a boiled egg."
Jade's husband, Jack Tweed - who married the star just over a week ago - is in renewed troubles after he appeared in court yesterday on charges of assaulting a taxi driver.
Jack was alleged to have threatened and assaulted driver Stephen Wilkins in Essex while quarrelling about a fare after a drunken night out.
Jack is alleged to have told Wilkins: "I'll f***ing stab you and bite your head off."
Jack, 21, is also accused of pulling the handbrake on the taxi while it travelled at 50mph on a road, endangering all on board.
He denies the assault, saying he has no recollection of the night, or being arrested by police.
He said in Epping Magistrates court: "I wouldn't do that to a cab driver. He is an elderly man. I wouldn't do something like that."
The trial continues.
Jack is presently also subject to parole conditions after he was convicted of an assault last year. He presently has to wear an electronic tag and abide by a curfew, after he was convicted of assaulting a 16-year-old with a golf club.
