After November gigs supporting Oasis and a Hogmanay show at King Tut’s, Sergeant are to be playing at a free gig at The Tunnel, Aberdeen on Thu 22 Jan. The gig is hosted by Platform2, an overseas volunteering scheme for 18 to 25-year-olds.
The scheme, funded by the Department for International Development and run by Christian Aid, BUNAC and Islamic Relief, offers the chance for young people who would not otherwise be able to afford to volunteer and visit places such as South Africa, Ghana, Peru or India for 10 weeks free of charge the opportunity to do so. Kerri McGroarty from Glasgow recently returned from Ghana with some unforgettable memories. ‘I don't live in the richest of areas, but what I saw on my trip put everything into perspective. The trip was by far the best experience of my life.’
If the idea of going away for an unforgettable experience appeals to you, the gig will also be the chance for you to hear more about the scheme from returning participants before Sergeant strut their stuff and show what all the hype’s about. However, with capacity at The Tunnel limited, admission is a first-come-first-serve basis so you better be down there when doors open at 7pm.
