Emma Thompson says falling in love when you are older is "very frightening".
The 49-year-old actress - who married actor Greg Wise in 2003 - insists coping with the stress of finding a new partner gets more difficult with age.
Emma, who is divorced from actor Kenneth Branagh, said: "I love watching people who are not 18 falling in love. When you're older, it's fraught with difficulties, really, and it's very frightening as well."
Emma, who can next be seen starring alongside Dustin Hoffman in romantic comedy 'Last Chance Harvey', also revealed she was thrilled to be cast as a romantic lead at her age.
She added to ET Online: "Dustin and I were sort of ready at our ages - I'm nearly 50, Dustin's 70 - to play romantic leads for the first time, if you like. We wanted to play a particular kind of character romantic leads - people who aren't obviously romantic like, well, let's face it, most of us."
