Sluts & Bolts - Frog Frog Donkey Frog

Glasgow comedy punk provocateurs Sluts & Bolts - aka guitarist and singer Beancopter Bolts and bassist and vocalist Mary J. Bilgepump (possibly not their real names by the way) - are probably the last band whose records you’ll find on the shelves at a respectable high street retailer like Woolies. Not only because they make a right daft and rowdy racket (think !!! and Battles getting nasty with The Frogs), but also because they tend to sing about very rude things indeed.

Rude things you say?

Indeed, for they claim to be the band who put the “fanny” in “profanity”.

Give us some examples.

You asked for it. F*ckingham Palace is a song about the Windsor family filming heinous DIY porn behind closed doors in the Queen’s house (where everyone gets a “right royal rogering”), while No One Gives A Shit About Your Blog sees the band express their less than sympathetic views about people who spend too much time on the internet (“your online persona/did not give me a boner” etc). As for I Found Love (And An STI), well, we won’t even get into that one.

What can we expect from the Sluts & Bolts live experience?

They describe themselves as sounding like “an episode of Hollyoaks where a squirrel molests a corgi and gets syphilis and writes a song about Jeremy Kyle drowning in milk,” so, um, make of that what you will.

My mum probably wouldn’t like this band much would she?

Unless she happens to be a very sick individual: no, probably not.
