Oasis' stadium attack

Oasis are to embark on an enormous stadium tour next year.

Speaking on the pitch at London's Wembley Stadium - famous for its soccer matches - guitarist Noel Gallagher confirmed yesterday (16.10.08) the band will perform two concerts at the venue next July.

The eight-date tour will begin on June 6 with the first of two homecoming shows at Manchester's Heaton Park.

Support for the shows will come from Kasabian and British rock trio The Enemy.

Noel, 41, is overjoyed with the opening acts, and has promised fans a night to remember.

He quipped: "Looking at the bill, I think these are going to be the shows of next year, if not the decade for a certain demographic.

"I'm just glad I can get tickets. These are the concerts people remember. I give thanks that we're headlining it and not some heritage act on before a bunch of kids."

Meanwhile, Oasis rocked Wembley Arena last night.

The band treated fans to a selection of new and established hits, including 'The Shock of the Lighting', the Liam Gallagher-penned 'I'm Outta Time, 'Supersonic' and 'Lyla'.

However, the biggest cheers of the evening were saved for classic tracks 'Wonderwall', 'Champagne Supernova' and a semi-acoustic version of 'Don't Look Back In Anger'.

The band closed the concert with a cover-version of The Beatles' 'I Am The Walrus', they're traditional closer from the early 90s.

Tickets for Oasis' 2009 stadium shows go on sale at 10am on October 24, the venues are:

Manchester Heaton Park (June 6, 7)

Sunderland Stadium Of Light (10)

Cardiff Millennium Stadium (12)

Edinburgh Murrayfield Stadium (17)

Dublin Slane Castle (20)

London Wembley Stadium (July 11, 12)
