What can I expect to hear at Gallagher's gigs?

Having released the High Flying Birds' greatest hits album Back the Way We Came Vol.1 (2011-2021) this year and still riding high on the nostalgia-inducing documentary Oasis Knebworth 1996, these shows will undoubtedly be a grab-bag selection of Gallagher's many successes.

But tthe 'Wonderwall' songwriter will still have a few tricks up his sleeve. Although he continues to be viewed as a conservative rock 'n' roller, Noel has been edging his into experimental dance territory with his past couple of albums and EPs, from the David Holmes-produced Who Built The Moon? to the lurching New Order pastiche of 'New Moon Rising'. So if he's planning on showcasing new material at the shows, expect it to cleave closer to the early acid house of his Madchester youth than Oasis-lite.

Speaking of 'New Moon Rising', to our mind it's an underrated banger. Give it a listen and enjoy:

What else has Gallagher been up to?

Although no new material is officially on the horizon, Noel's been a busy lad since lockdown restrictions eased. In the past few months, he's enjoyed a short residency DJing on Radio X with his long-time friend Matt Morgan and provided voiceover duties for the newly released Oasis doc Oasis Knebworth 1996.

He's also undertaken his usual (and seemingly endless) round of interviews to keep his name in the papers, claiming variously that he's had a peek at Bryan Ferry's tackle in a public toilet, despises reggae, and obsessively texts the football manager Pep Guardiola after every Manchester City game. Fascinating stuff, as always.

In less inane news, Gallagher has discussed that he'd be tempted to record an album of Oasis songs reworked to suit his older voice.

According to the Daily Star newspaper's Wired column, Noel said 'A bunch of Oasis reworks might be nice to do.'

On how he changed the chords to 'Definitely Maybe' to suit a man of his age, he added, 'The original version is a young guy's song who is singing it with his life in front of him.

'When I hit that chord, I was like, "Ah, this is like an old fella's chord, who is looking back on his life."'
