Ed Sheeran announces massive = UK stadium tour for 2022: how to buy tickets

Singer-songwriter adds dates in Sunderland, Cardiff and Wembley in support of new album =

Flame-haired song-writing extraordinaire Ed Sheeran has added dates to the the mammoth-sized + - = ÷ x Tour (The Mathematics Tour) of stadiums across the UK in May, June and July 2022. Tickets for the extra shows go on sale at 9am on Tuesday 28 September. Check the bottom of the article for tour dates and links to buy tickets.

The tour comes partly in support of Sheeran's highly anticipated new album = (or Equals), a series of pop-infused dancefloor fillers which he announced in an Instagram livestream last month, alongside a tear-jerking rendition of single 'Visiting Hours'. The album is set for release on Friday 29 October.

Sheeran teased the tour by projecting his trademark mathematical symbols on the side of famous landmarks across the UK, with '+-=÷x' emblazoned across Glasgow's Gallery Of Modern Art, Gateshead's Angel Of The North and a host of other cultural institutions. He also hinted at a big announcement during an Instagram livestream earlier this week, stating in typically plain fashion, 'There will be tour stuff announced in two days, so watch out on Friday.'

The tour will take Sheeran through some of the biggest venues in the country, starting with Cardiff's Principality Stadium on Thursday 26 May before heading to Sunderland, Manchester and Glasgow, culminating in a gargantuan three night residency at London's Wembley Stadium.

As excitement mounts for =, Sheeran himself says of the album, 'It's been a long, long process. I've been through love, loss, new life, grief and everything in between during the whole period of writing it, and I feel like it's really a coming of age record. I've never been more proud of a body of work, or more excited/nervous for you all to hear it.'

In December 2019, Sheeran announced a break from touring to spend more time with his family after the global success of his Divide tour. Fans will be relieved to see his break is finally over.
