Gizzi Erskine thinks it’s important to “preserve” the UK’s food culture.

The 41-year-old chef has teamed up with recipe box service Gousto to launch their new limited-edition recipes, which were created in collaboration with five independent restaurants, and the brunette beauty thinks it’s an important initiative because it celebrates the “diverse scene” of eating out in Britain.

She said: ““As a nation, we’re so proud of our food and the incredible variety available, so it’s important we work together to preserve it. These five much-loved restaurants are an amazing reflection of the variety that indie’s bring to the table.

“Through Gousto’s Cookstarter campaign, you can tuck into delicious recipes and champion the UK’s diverse food scene by ordering your very own Cookstarter recipe and tipping the independent restaurants directly. The power is in your oven gloves!”

The five restaurants – Baity Kitchen in Manchester, Scott & Wilson in North Shields, Noya’s Kitchen, Bath, London’s MC & Sons and La Pantera in Cardiff – were chosen out of 15,000 nominations from across the UK as part of Gousto’s Cookstarter campaign and, as well as listing their recipes on their menu, the winners collectively received £50,000 in funding, as well as a year-long programme of business mentoring.

Noya Pawlyn, owner of Noya’s Kitchen, which have served up a Spicy Vietnamese Chilli & Ginger Aubergine Stir Fry recipe, said: “It’s been a tough year for the hospitality industry, but it’s been extremely heart-warming to see the nation get behind us and other indie restaurants with Gousto’s Cookstarter campaign – you have no idea how much we appreciate the support. We hope our signature Chilli & Ginger Aubergine Stir Fry helps bring the beautifully balanced flavours of Vietnam to people’s homes.
