Bradley Walsh will host 10 brand-new episodes of 'Blankety Blank' on BBC One, following a successful Christmas special reboot

'Blankety Blank' is returning for a brand-new series following a successful Christmas special last year.

Bradley Walsh will present 10 new episodes of the BBC One game show – after he took the reins for the 2020 festive ep – and he "jumped at the chance" to return to the programme.

He said: "I struggle to remember the last time I laughed as much as when I was filming 'Blankety Blank' – so when they asked if I'd be up for doing a series, I jumped at the chance, I'm just so pleased I get to be a part of it.

"I stand on the shoulders of giants like Les Dawson and Sir Terry Wogan but I'm hoping to put my own stamp on the fantastically nostalgic show."

The 35-minute episodes will see a panel of six celebrities try to fill in the missing blanks over a series of rounds to help win prizes for contestants.

Kate Phillips, Director of Entertainment at the BBC, said: "'Blankety Blank' has it all – ridiculous questions, unpredictable celebrities, bizarre prizes and, in Bradley a very funny and much-loved host.

"I can't wait for everyone to watch and start filling in those blanks."

Amelia Brown, Managing Director of Thames, added: "To be able to team this legendary format with the legend that is Bradley Walsh in a series, is so exciting and a match made in heaven. We can't wait to get into studio with Bradley and a host of brilliant panellists."

In December, Bradley admitted he was thrilled to be following in the footsteps of his late "hero" Les Dawson by hosting the 'Blankety Blank' reboot.

Asked whether he's feeling the pressure of hosting the show, Bradley replied: "I’m not feeling the pressure so much, just the fact that I love a bit of nostalgic telly and to follow in the footsteps of Sir Terry Wogan and one of my heroes Les Dawson, having worked on the show as a studio warm-up for Les a few times. It’s a thrill for me."
