'Emmerdale' actress Amy Walsh has praised her boyfriend and soap rival Toby-Alexander Smith after he was nominated for a BAFTA TV Award in the Must-See Moment category, for the chilling scene in which his 'EastEnders' character Gray Atkins murdered his wife Chantelle Atkins
Amy Walsh says her boyfriend Toby-Alexander Smith "deserves" his BAFTA TV Award nomination because he is "really lovely in real life".
The 'Emmerdale' actress has praised the 'EastEnders' actor after he received a nod in the Must-See Moment category for the chilling scene in which his serial killer character Gray Atkins murdered his wife Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer) last year.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Amy – who plays Tracy Metcalfe in the ITV soap – wrote: "Could not be more proud
"He's really lovely in real life so makes it even more deserving (sic)"
The soap power couple struck up a romance last year and the pair made their first public appearance at a performance of 'A Christmas Carol' in London.
A source said at the time: "It’s early days but they really like each other.
"They’re both very busy with packed work schedules at opposite ends of the country, but they try to spend as much time together as they can."
While romance is going well for Toby-Alexander off-screen, it's not been such plain sailing for Gray in Albert Square.
Since murdering Chantelle – by pushing her onto an upturned knife in their dishwasher, after spending months abusing her – he has killed twice more, bumping off Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White) and Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami), to become a serial killer.
He recently developed feelings for his children's nanny Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), which led to him killing her fiancé Kush in a jealous rage by pushing him in front of a London Underground train.
