'The Cabins' has been recommissioned by ITV and will return for a second series in 2022

'The Cabins' will return for a second series in 2022.

The ITV2 show, from the makers of 'Love Island', was the ITV Hub's most popular entertainment show when the first series launched earlier this year and it has now been recommissioned by the network.

The programme sees a cast of singletons ditch the dating rule book and delete their dating apps in a bid to find true love.

In the intimate surroundings of 'The Cabins', they then have 24 hours to decide if they want to spend more time together or walk away.

The first series saw love blossom between Sarah and Charlotte – who became the first couple to stay for four days and leave as an official 'Cabins couple' – as well as the rollercoaster relationship with Robyn and Mamudo and a heart-warming friendship between Liam and Andras.

'The Cabins' is produced by 12 Yard and is based on an original Dutch format, 'Let Love Rule'.

Paul Mortimer, ITV Head of Digital Channels and Acquisitions, said: "'The Cabins' proved to be a great success amongst our target audience, and we're hoping cupid's arrow can find its way back to the lodge when we debut our second series on ITV2 and ITV Hub in 2022."

Michael Mannes, Managing Director at 12 Yard, added: "We were delighted that 'The Cabins' launched so well on ITV2 and The ITV Hub and we are very much looking forward to producing an even more exciting, ambitious and love struck second series."

The first series was launched this year after ITV2 was forced to scrap both the summer and winter editions of 'Love Island' due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The decision to scrap the series came amid global uncertainty with regards to the ongoing health crisis and social distancing measure meant it proved impossible to stage.

Kevin Lygo, ITV's director of television, previously said: "We are very sorry for fans of the show but making it safely is our prime concern and 'Love Island' will be back stronger than ever in 2021."

The most recent series to air was the winter edition in 2020, which was won by Paige Turley and Finn Tapp.
