Pete Bennett has shared Nikki Grahame's last text to him before she entered an eating disorder clinic prior to her death
Pete Bennett has revealed Nikki Grahame's final text to him before her death.
The 'Big Brother' star – who struck up a romance with Nikki on the reality show in 2006 – was in contact with the 38-year-old star up until her passing earlier this month following a long battle with anorexia, and she messaged him before checking into an eating disorder clinic.
Revealing the text to heat magazine, the message read: "Hey Petie, all good my end. Starting a clinic on Monday, which is good. And the sun is shining today!’"
Nikki spent three weeks in Dorset County Hospital, Dorchester, where she was treated for anorexia before leaving on April 9.
Pete had tried to arrange a special surprise for his ex-girlfriend in the hope it would help her recovery.
The pair used to sing and dance to Kate Bush's song 'Babooshka', and he had hoped to get in touch with the singer to give her a "boost".
Pete said: "I was looking to contact Kate Bush to see if she could send Nikki a message as I honestly thought that giving her a boost from her hero would help her start to feel more positive and recover. "But then we got the news that she was gone. And it was too late."
Nikki’s mum Sue recently discussed her daughter's anorexia battle, revealing that the closure of gyms amid the pandemic had a big impact on the TV star.
She said: "With COVID, it sounds crazy but stuff like gyms closing impacted her.
"In order for her to eat she needs to know she can exercise, so when they closed it was quite a worry, the isolation as well. "I asked her if she would come and stay with me but she said she needs to be in her home."
