Father and son duo Martin and Roman Kemp have ruled out appearing on 'Strictly' in the future
Roman Kemp has ruled out him or his dad Martin appearing on 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The 28-year-old radio presenter – who is currently in a medical boot after his recent football injury – insisted neither of them would do well on the BBC Latin and ballroom competition because "bad knees" run in the family.
Appearing on ITV's 'Lorraine' on Friday (16.04.21), he was asked by guest host Ranvir Singh if he or the Spandau Ballet star would ever take part.
He said: "One, I don't know how ready my dad will ever be ready considering his dad dance moves and also, do you know what? The Kemps have terrible knees.
"This isn't an excuse, we have very very bad knees and I think it would just be horrendous!
"I’m so injury prone, I don’t think that I’ll be able to do it."
And Martin – appearing via video link with his son from the Capital Radio studio – agreed that it's not on the cards.
He added: "I love the show but I don’t think it’ll be for me."
Meanwhile, Roman also suggested his work commitments for Capital FM would make it difficult to be fully dedicated to 'Strictly' rehearsals even if he did sign up.
He explained: "With my show, I don’t think I’ll be able to fully commit to it!"
Roman has actually auditioned in the past, but the try out was "so hard" that it put him off pursuing the chance to take part.
He recently said: "I would like to do it, they did ask me. I ended up going, it's like an audition … if I'm totally honest, I had a great time, but it's too much effort. It's so hard. It's so hard."
His dad Martin Kemp then told 'Strictly' pro Oti Mabuse that Roman would sign up instantly if he was partnered up with the 30-year-old dancer.
He said: "Roman said he'd only do it if you were his partner [Oti]."
Roman added: "100 per cent. I'd only do it if they were like, 'You can be with Oti.' "
But when Oti suggested he should try out again for the show, Roman backtracked: "Don't get ahead of yourself Oti..."
