'EastEnders' actress Shona McGarty reveals her co-star Davood Ghadami will get a "big exit" this month

Shona McGarty has teased a "big" 'EastEnders' exit for Kush Kazemi.

The soap star – who has played Whitney Dean on the BBC show since 2008 – revealed her co-star Davood Ghadami will receive a huge Albert Square send-off when his character leaves the show after confessing to the Mitchells' crimes in court to help Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace).

Since deciding to secure a big payday for Kat, Kush has broken up with his ex – who's moved on with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) – and fallen for Whitney, with the outcome of the court case still under wraps.

Reflecting on the actor's last day on set, Shona said: "It was a strange day. We are very close and he's been on the Square for a long time so we're all really good friends.

"It was a sad day but very exciting to film, I know that he was very excited.

"It's big stuff, it's such big stuff that we felt like we were doing a film. It was a really exciting day."

Shona and Davood have been close friends during their time together on set, and she was delighted to be working with him on his final storyline.

She added: "It was lovely finding out I'd be working with Davood because he's so much fun to work with and I think he's a brilliant actor, so I was really looking forward to it.

"Whitney really thinks Kush is 'The One' and this is it, this is her happy ever after. I think she thinks this is it, this is the last thing."

Last month, Davood admitted it was "tough" not being able to embrace his 'EastEnders' co-stars after six-and-a-half years on the show.

Sharing a picture of himself and James Bye (Martin Fowler), he wrote: "Not going to lie today was bittersweet. I had to say goodbye to some of THE best people I could ever wish to know. Not being able to do the usual hugs was tough, though probably for the best as I might not have let go. Im a very lucky lad. Thanks to the ones who made the 6 and a half years so special. You know who you are. The pic might even hint subtly at who one of them is... thanks for the ride (sic)"
