Kate Lawler has found sleep deprivation "torture" as she struggles to sleep when the baby sleeps during the day
Kate Lawler has described sleep deprivation as "torture".
The 40-year-old reality star has struggled with the lack of sleep since welcoming her daughter Noa into the world in February but she knows that by putting her newborn first she is already a good mum.
She wrote on Instagram: "Only just finding time to make breakfast while Noa has her first nap of the day. Still not brushed my teeth or showered but I’m feeling cute in these silky @dancing_leopard pyjamas my best girlfriends gave to me during a surprise baby shower over zoom a couple of months ago. They didn’t fit when I had my bump but they do now so I’m planning on staying in them all day to celebrate.
"Sending love to all new parents who need it today. I hope you all have a family member, a friend or someone helping look after you and your newborn if you need it. Sleep deprivation is torture but it’s not forever, it will get better, there is always light at the end of every tunnel and the very fact that you worry about being a good parent means you already are one."
The former 'Big Brother' star also revealed that she has found the best way to get a good night's sleep is to co-sleep with Noa as she struggles to catch up on her rest during the day.
She added: "I think co-sleeping and the nap I had today helped. I finally napped when Noa napped. You know when people go, 'Best bit of advice I can give you is sleep when the baby sleeps. When the baby sleeps, sleep! Nap when the baby's napping.' I can't do that, I can't sleep on demand. It doesn't work for me. If I'm not tired I won't sleep, I'll just be laying there until she starts crying again."
