Gaynor Faye is training to become a counsellor.
The former 'Emmerdale' actress embarked on a starter course in counselling during lockdown, and she has also been studying Spanish, maths and creative wellbeing during her free time.
She said: "I've used some enforced time off in lockdown to broaden my horizons.
"I'm studying Spanish, maths and creative wellbeing, and I'm doing a starter course in counselling, as I'd love to become a counsellor one day."
The 49-year-old star has two kids, Lily and Oliver, and while she was hoping they would go into "sensible" professions, the pair look set to follow in her and Gaynor's mum, screenwriter Kay Mellor's footsteps.
She added to My Weekly magazine: "My kids have both followed in my footsteps.
"My daughter, Lily, is at drama school studying musical theatre and my son, Oliver, is a budding actor, director and writer. I'm very proud of them.
"As a mum, you want security for your children, so I encouraged them to find 'sensible' professions.
"I kept saying, 'How about becoming a doctor? It's very dramatic in A&E.
"Acting is such a difficult career and I wanted them to pursue something with stability and longevity."
Gaynor – who played Megan Macey in 'Emmerdale' for seven years before departing in 2019 – is currently appearing in the latest series of her mum Kay's 'The Syndicate'.
And the star recently admitted she always calls her mother by her name on set to remain professional.
She added: "I love going, 'Am I dealing with Kay or Mum today?
"On set, we've always had a professional working relationship. It's important for the rest of the cast.
"Everybody knows we're related, but it has to be professional."
