Piers Morgan says Alex Beresford’s appearance on ‘Good Morning Britain’ last month was a “premeditated attack” on him on a “pretty personal level”.
Alex, 40, appeared on an episode of the morning news show in early March to discuss Duchess Meghan’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey after Piers had said he “didn’t believe a word” of what she had said during the episode of the show the day before.
During their conversation, Alex – who is a weatherman for ‘GMB’ – suggested Piers didn’t like Meghan because she ended their personal relationship, at which point the 56-year-old presenter stormed off the set.
And now, Piers has accused Alex of planning an attack on his character by coming on the show.
In a new tell-all interview with FOX News’ Tucker Carlson, Piers said: "He is the stand in weather guy, he's not a journalist, he's someone I've helped in his career like he has asked me to.
"He sent me a private message in which he expressed some concern about what he felt I wasn't really understanding about where Meghan Markle was coming from as a biracial woman.
"He is himself a biracial man so he wanted to explain so I said come on air, let's have the conversation.
"But the moment he came on air, he came with a pretty premeditated attack on me on a pretty personal level and frankly I just wasn't going to have it.
"I walked off ... I was quite angry in the moment, he claimed that I have a personal vendetta against Meghan Markle, which I don't."
Alex previously branded Piers as “pathetic” for walking off the set of ‘GMB’, and said his behaviour was “diabolical”.
Speaking during the episode of the ITV show in which he clashed with Piers, he said: "Absolutely diabolical behaviour, I'm sorry but Piers spouts off on a regular basis and we all have to sit here and listen.
"From 6.30 to 7am yesterday, it was incredibly hard to watch.
"He has the ability to come in here and talk from a position that he doesn't fully understand."
