Takaya Honda has told his online followers about a subtle change made to the opening titles on 'Neighbours'

Takaya Honda has revealed a behind-the-scenes secret to the new opening titles on 'Neighbours'.

The 33-year-old actor – who plays David Tanaka in the Australian soap – has revealed via Twitter that his character's appearance in the revamped opening titles includes a subtle difference.

Takaya – whose character's life was left hanging in the balance after a hit-and-run in 2019 – wrote on the micro-blogging platform: "This is the first time David has had his shirt off on screen since his kidney surgeries, and you may not notice (because it is hard to see) but we made sure he had the scars."

The new opening titles feature David and Aaron Brennan enjoying a walk by the Lassiter's Lake.

And in the scenes, viewers can just make out the scars resulting from the incident in 2019.

In February, meanwhile, Takaya revealed he "knew" Texas Watterston and Ezra Justin would eventually return to the soap.

The actor is delighted that their characters, Brent Colefax and Emmett Donaldson, made a return to 'Neighbours'.

Takaya shared: "Texas Watterston and Ezra Justin bring such amazing performances to the screen that even before they had finished their first stint we knew that they would be coming back, we just didn’t know how."

The soap star admitted the duo made a great impression on the cast during their first stint, saying they are "such brilliant young talents to work with".

Takaya also previously hinted that 2021 will be a major year for his on-screen character.

Hinting at what's to come over the next few months, he explained: "Big things are happening in 2021 for David, I’m not sure he will be finishing the year the same person he started as."
