'The Chase' newcomer Darragh Ennis has revealed his top tips for wining the jackpot
'The Chase' star Darragh Ennis has given fans tips on how to win the jackpot.
The quizzer – who joined the popular ITV show as The Menace back in November – won the programme as a contestant four years ago, and he made £22.50 for a Cameo video which saw him giving viewers his insider knowledge in something of a masterclass.
He said: "The thing is to get the most people back.
"All three of my team took the negative offer and it was the right thing to do because those head start steps are the difference.
"That’s the advantage the contestants have. If four contestants get back, 40 percent of [the time], that team wins.”
The 40-year-old star – who contributed £9,000 to the prize fund when he won in 2017 – also urged potential contestants to avoid wasting valuable time in the final chase with the jackpot on the line.
He added: "I was in a team with a lot of nervous people, so I took over.
"I told them at the start of the final chase I would give them half a second to answer the question otherwise I was buzzing in.
"Dead time on the show is just the pits. If you're waiting for someone else to answer and you go one, two, three seconds, that's a waste.
"That's a full question you could have got in and it's key in the final about racking up the numbers."
Elsewhere in the video, Darragh explained the importance of not passing under any circumstances.
He said: "Saying the word pass is the worst thing you can do, absolutely the worst thing you can do.
"Just throw out an answer. Doesn't matter how stupid it is, it just might be right and it will never be right if it's pass."
