Shirley and Andy Thalassitis have revealed they're always thinking about their late son
Mike Thalassitis' parents admit their late son is on their mind "every single day".
Shirley and Andy Thalassitis have broken their silence on their son's death in March 2019, when he took his own life at the age of 26, admitting they weren't aware of his frame of mind around that time.
Shirley, 63, said: "We have to live with what happened and he is on our mind every single day."
Andy, 65, admitted he had no idea that his son – who rose to fame after appearing on 'Love Island' in 2017 – was struggling so badly with his mental health.
He recalled being in "utter disbelief" when he was told what had happened to his son.
Andy told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "We just didn't see it coming. I felt utter disbelief.
"He came to the house the Thursday before and said he was fine. He said, 'I'll see you Sunday', and that was it."
Shirley also revealed she still visit her son's grave a few times a week because she finds it "comforting".
She explained that she likes to have a "quiet moment" when she pays her respects to her son.
Shirley shared: "I visit his grave every week, several times. I find it comforting to go and take flowers. Just sitting there, not talking to him as such, but having a quiet moment."
The former 'Love Island' star was found dead in Edmonton, north London, and ITV subsequently announced plans to improve the aftercare support its provides to its contestants.
Richard Cowles, Director ITV Studios Entertainment, previously said: "We are outlining today our welfare processes follow three key stages: pre-filming, filming and aftercare.
"We are increasing our post filming support to help Islanders following their time in villa."
