'Dancing on Ice' judge Christopher Dean has been left "battered and bruised" after he and Jayne Torvill suffered an "almighty fall" on the ice on Monday (08.03.21) while rehearsing their routine ahead of the show's final on Sunday (14.03.21)
Christopher Dean is feeling "battered and bruised" after he and Jayne Torvill suffered an "almighty fall" on the ice on Monday (08.03.21).
The ice skating legends are to take to the ice for the 'Dancing on Ice' final on Sunday (14.03.21), and while practicing their routine the pair – who are also judges on the ITV show – took a huge tumble, which he is "still paying for".
He said: "Jane and I haven't skated for the last eight weeks, because we've been in our bubble. Everything we've done we recorded before.
"But we are skating this last week.
"We were just on the ice on Monday and we took an almighty fall, which I'm still paying for.
"I feel a bit battered and bruised. But it happens."
But Christopher managed to cushion Jayne's landing with his own body.
He said: "I caught an edge, went down and placed myself under Jane so she landed on top of me.
"So she had a nice cushion, and it was just my back that took the pressure.
"We're all good."
The 62-year-old skater – who, alongside Jayne, won a gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo – insisted falls are all part of the sport.
Speaking on 'Good Morning Britain', he added: "You go through falls, and what you do is you learn to fall better.
"That's basically it.
"They are going to happen. You fall down 10 times, you get up 11 times."
Sonny Jay, Faye Brookes and Colin Jackson will compete against one another in the 'Dancing on Ice' final.
