Rita Simons dreams about Dame Barbara Windsor "a lot".
The former 'EastEnders' actress often thinks of her late co-star – who died in December aged 83 following a six-year battle with Alzheimer's – and has recalled visiting her last year when she "wasn't well", and Rita admitted it was "quite shocking".
She told OK! magazine: "I went to see Barbara last year, before lockdown in March.
"I popped into her house in Mayfair and she wasn't well and it was quite shocking.
"She had about five seconds of lucid conversation at a time and kept asking Scott [her husband] if they were going home soon.
"It was so sad, but I'm happy I saw her that one last time.
"I dream about her a lot."
Former 'EastEnders' boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins recently revealed Barbara once reprimanded him for kissing Rita at an awards bash.
He explained: "She said, 'You're a producer – you should be getting them in the car, not getting off with them. And anyway, you're one of them, you're gay'."
When Dominic was promoted to executive producer in 2013, Barbara told him: "Right, toughen up and put on a proper shirt – you're the guv'nor now."
Following Barbara's passing, Rita praised the actress as an "ultimate professional", as well as the "warmest and most caring friend".
She wrote on Instagram: "Night night you wonderful little pocket rocket. You were the ultimate professional, the warmest and most caring friend, the liveliest little cockney sparrow I ever did meet..and the bravest to the very end. I send all my love, thoughts and hugs to your wonderful @scott.mitchell3. Sleep well darling Bar (sic)"
