'Coronation Street' actress Kate Ford has hit out at anti-maskers, asking anyone who doesn't want to wear a face mask in a shop or on public transport to unfollow her on social media
Kate Ford has hit out at people who aren't wearing masks in shops or on public transport.
The 'Coronation Street' actress has asked anyone who refuses to wear a face covering – unless they have "genuine exemption" – or who doesn't wear them correctly, to unfollow her on Twitter.
Kate – who plays no-nonsense Tracy Barlow on the ITV soap – tweeted: "Honestly if you are the sort to enter a store or for your take away or on public transport without your mask on ( without genuine exemption) or with your mask on your chin, unfollow me... I really don’t like you (sic)"
The cobbles star also admitted she was "pleased" to hear supermarket chain Morrisons has banned maskless shoppers, unless they have a medical exemption.
She wrote: "Sooooo bloody pleased @Morrisons have banned people without masks. I get it!! If you can’t wear them because you have health challenges then I understand, but if it’s cos you can’t be arsed or you are a covid denier well urghhhhh (sic)"
This comes after Kate's co-star and on-screen nephew Sam Robertson (Adam Barlow) recently admitted he has enjoyed the anonymity of wearing a face mask in public.
He said: "I think this job can be quite overwhelming because you really can't escape.
"If you're in the UK and you go out for a coffee or lunch or breakfast or whatever, it's almost impossible to go one hour out of the house without someone approaching you.
"Which is fine, you get used to it over time. But at first, when I came back [to 'Corrie'] in 2016, the first 18 months or so I found it ... I was like, 'Wow.'
"When I was in the show in the 2000s camera phones weren't as common as they are now.
"With these masks coming in this year it's actually been quite a nice thing for me.
"I can walk around and wear my mask all day and no one knows who I am."
