Alison Hammond suffered an awkward moment during an interview with Graham Norton
Alison Hammond quizzed Graham Norton about his dead dog as she started her new role on 'This Morning'.
The 45-year-old presenter started her new role alongside Dermot O'Leary on Friday (09.01.21), but she suffered an awkward moment when she was chatting to Graham via a video link.
Alison said to the TV star: "The last time I saw you you were walking your beautiful dog. Have you still got her?"
In response, Graham said in a deadpan tone: "No – dead."
Alison replied: "Oh, I am so sorry. I don't know what to say."
However, Graham insisted it wasn't something she needed to worry about.
He told Alison: "I am just being horrible to you, it's fine!"
Alison and Dermot, 47, have replaced Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford as the hosts of 'This Morning's Friday show.
And during the programme, Alison told Dermot: "There's already a new man in my life – it's you!"
Meanwhile, Alison previously described her promotion as a "huge privilege and honour".
The former 'Big Brother' star also hailed her "lovely" co-host.
She said: "I never dreamt that when I first joined 'This Morning' – initially for a few months – that I would still be there 19 years later. I genuinely care about the show and the viewers who watch, so it’s a huge privilege and honour to be hosting a show I adore so much.
"I’m just really excited to be doing even more of what I love alongside the lovely Dermot."
Dermot has also heaped praise on Alison, describing her as the "living embodiment of sunshine".
He explained: "We have huge shoes to fill and we are well aware what a privilege it is to be stepping into them. Above all, we want to have fun and for you to be able to kick your weekend off with a smile, especially given the year we've all had.
"So I'm delighted to be co-hosting with the living embodiment of sunshine on a rainy day."
