Harry Collett is returning to 'Casualty'.
The 16-year-old actor has confirmed via social media that he's set to reprise the role of Oliver Hide in the long-running BBC medical drama.
During an Instagram Q&A, Harry said: "For everyone asking, YES. I am returning to Casualty this season. See you at Holby. (sic)"
Harry last appeared in 'Casualty' in 2019, and subsequently starred alongside Robert Downey Jr in 'Dolittle'.
However, the actor – who has also appeared in the music video for Michael Buble and Idina Menzel's cover of 'Baby, It's Cold Outside' – was a more regular figure on the show between 2016 and 2017.
'Casualty' recently returned to TV screens and Kate Oates, the BBC’s head of continuing drama, previously admitted that scripts for the new series were scrapped in order to focus on the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
She explained: "There was no chance of using the material that had been written because it wouldn’t have felt relevant.
"The world has changed and Covid has affected both the NHS and the way people feel about their jobs."
Kate thinks it's important to balance real-life issues with creating a spectacle for TV viewers.
In particular, Kate suggested the show has a responsibility to shine a light on the problems facing NHS staff amid the pandemic.
She said: "There are life lessons to be learned and conversations to be had off the back of 'Casualty' and 'Holby City', whether it’s about the daily hardships of NHS staff, the money they’re paid or the equipment they’re given.
"But hopefully, on shows like ours, we can make those social points at the same time as our heroes are seen in their best Avengers style embracing the same kind of life-or-death situations they always have."
