ITV has confirmed that the next series of 'Britain's Got Talent' has been delayed

The new series of 'Britain's Got Talent' has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The ITV show as due to start filming this month, but the broadcaster has been forced to change its plans because of the recent surge in coronavirus cases across the UK.

An ITV spokesperson said: "The filming for the 15th series of 'Britain’s Got Talent' has been postponed from its proposed record dates in late January.

"With the announcement of the latest government health guidelines and with our priority of safeguarding the well-being of everyone involved in our programmes we, together with the production teams at Thames and Syco, have taken the decision to move the record and broadcast of the forthcoming series.

"We will confirm revised dates in due course."

The news comes shortly after a report claimed that 'Britain's Got Talent' bosses have already explored the possibility of auditioning some acts abroad, rather than in the UK.

The move could help the ITV show to get around current travel issues.

A source recently said: "It would get around the fact that acts can’t fly in to take part in the show as they normally do and mean bosses can still put on a show.

"The format has been commissioned in 58 countries so they have crews. It will have high production value and cinematic feel."

The new series is set to feature a judging panel of Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Simon Cowell.

However, at the moment, it's unclear when the next season of the show will air due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the pandemic.
