Annie Wallace feels "safe" on the 'Hollyoaks' set amid the latest coronavirus pandemic lockdown.
The 55-year-old star – who plays Sally St. Claire in the Channel 4 soap – has reassured fans the show's "stringent anti-Covid policies" have been "working well" and she feels fortunate to be able to work at this time.
She wrote on Twitter: "First day of 2021 back at work today at House of @Hollyoaks.
"Our stringent anti-COVID policies and procedures work well, and I certainly feel safe there. I know we, and the other soaps, are lucky in this respect."
One Twitter user questioned how filming 'Hollyoaks' was classed as "essential work", but Annie hit back by sharing the government's guidelines after England was plunged into a third national lockdown.
She tweeted: "Some of these businesses and places will also be permitted to be open for a small number of exempt activities. A full list of exemptions can be found in the guidance on closing certain businesses and venues in England, but includes: ... for the purposes of film and TV filming"
This comes after 'Loose Women' panellist Denise Welch – who recently joined the 'Hollyoaks' cast as Trish Minniver, the mum of Nikki Sanderson's character Maxine Minniver – admitted this week that the show's bosses are "very strict" when it comes to enforcing the guidelines.
She said: "Because we're doing Covid filming we're not allowed to have any physical contact.
"They come out with the two-metre pole and it's all very strict, and we have to adhere to all these guidelines."
