The TV industry is run by "people who don’t understand it", according to TV presenter Eamonn Holmes
Eamonn Holmes thinks the TV industry is run by "people who don’t understand it".
The 61-year-old presenter – who, along with his wife Ruth Langsford, was replaced on 'This Morning's Friday show by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary – has bemoaned the state of the TV business nowadays.
Appearing on the 'Talking Success' podcast, Eamonn explained: "Television is the easiest thing you’ll ever do in your life, made difficult by people who don’t understand it or who want to seem important because if they suddenly say, ‘No, no, no,' they’re important."
Eamonn – who started hosting 'This Morning' in the mid-2000s – also admitted to being underwhelmed by interviewing standards these days.
He said: "It never ceases to amaze me how few interviewers take the time to talk to their guests.
"Some will say you don’t want to shatter the illusion or you want to keep the interview fresh. Believe me, I can feign fresh."
Eamonn made the comments shortly before Alison and Dermot are due to start their new roles on 'This Morning'.
The presenting duo are set to host the ITV show on Friday (08.01.21), and Alison can't wait for the challenge.
She recently said: "I genuinely care about the show and the viewers who watch, so it’s a huge privilege and honour to be hosting a show I adore so much."
Dermot, 47, is similarly excited about hosting the long-running programme.
He shared: "We have huge shoes to fill and we are well aware what a privilege it is to be stepping into them. Above all, we want to have fun and for you to be able to kick your weekend off with a smile, especially given the year we've all had.
"So I'm delighted to be co-hosting with the living embodiment of sunshine on a rainy day. I can't wait to get started."
