Saira Khan has quit 'Loose Women' after five years
Saira Khan has quit 'Loose Women' after five years.
The television presenter has decided to exit the ITV daytime show as the coronavirus pandemic has "made her assess her priorities, values and how she wants to move forward with her life".
She wrote: "So I start this new year by saying goodbye to 'Loose Women'. After five years of being a regular panellist, I’ve decided to give up my seat to another woman who will benefit from the platform as I did."
And Saira admits it was a "difficult decision" for her.
Writing in her column for The Mirror newspaper, she added: "It was a difficult decision, but when you feel there is nothing left to share on a show that is all about sharing, it’s time to bow out. I think I’ve shown everyone I’m an opinionated, strong woman, but now I want to focus on pursuing other media projects, running my skincare business, Saira Skin, and developing my love for wellness. Others too have found that Covid has given them the kick they needed to quit jobs that don’t bring them satisfaction, and to try something new."
Meanwhile, Saira previously revealed she finds going into the 'Loose Women' studio in lockdown as a "massive release".
She said: "And I'm not going to sugar-coat it, but I don't think it's normal for couples to be together like this. I have a very strong marriage, but I thank God Loose Women brings me into the studio one day a week as it's a massive release. We've got no live audience and there's a skeleton staff with no hair, make-up or wardrobe, but it's lovely catching up with the girls. I'm a strong person and very in tune with my feelings but it's getting stressful. The novelty has worn off! But we spend time together as a family and have gone for lots of walks. I always talk to the children about issues and ask them: 'How are you finding lockdown?'"
