'Gavin and Stacey' star Joanna Page has admitted if there is to be another episode of the comedy series then she hopes it will be "quite soon", because she doesn't want to look "too old" while portraying Stacey Shipman
Joanna Page hopes there will be another 'Gavin and Stacey' episode "quite soon" because she doesn't want to look "too old" when portraying Stacey Shipman.
The 43-year-old actress doesn't know if she will be required to reprise her role anytime soon, but if she is then the star would like it to be in the near future.
She said: "I hope if they do another one that it’s going to be quite soon – because otherwise we will all look too old."
But Joanna admitted she would be "quite happy" to carry on her life wondering if there will be another episode or not.
She said: "I’m just the same as everyone. I just wait until I get a phone call and then I find out.
"But I’m quite happy carrying on the rest of my life thinking I don’t know if there will be another one or not."
Joanna can't imagine making a film version of the show in Essex and Wales' Barry Island, where the programme is set, but could do so somewhere sunny, such as Spain.
She added to The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "We could go over there for a month and sunbathe and just do a bit of filming.
"That would be fine. I’d quite enjoy doing that."
The comedy series returned for a one-off Christmas special last year, but Larry Lamb – who plays Stacey's father-in-law Mick Shipman – thinks it's "highly unlikely" there won't be any more 'Gavin & Stacey' – but joked he hopes they make another before he meets his maker.
He said: "After how well the Christmas special went down last year, it’s highly unlikely there won’t be more.
"We’re all ready, but when it’ll be, that’s up to James [Corden], Ruth Jones and the BBC."
Larry quipped: "I just hope they knock another one out before I’m dead. That or they can start at the graveside."
