'Pointless' presenter Richard Osman is set to leave Endemol after two decades with the company
Richard Osman is set to leave Endemol.
The 50-year-old TV presenter has announced he will leave his creative director role at the media company, but he's reassured fans that he'll continue as the host of 'Pointless'.
Richard wrote on Twitter: "I've worked at Endemol since I was 29, but it's time for me to move on. Will still be doing Pointless/House Of Games & working with brilliant people there. But also looking forward to creating new shows with new people. It's been a wonderful 20 years, and I will miss it very much (sic)"
Richard subsequently joked that many of his followers weren't even aware that he had a "real job".
He quipped: "I'm aware that people who think I'm a TV presenter didn't even know I had an actual, real job, but there we are."
Richard has hosted 'Pointless' since 2009, and he recently admitted he loves his on-screen job.
He shared: "Being on telly is just a joy.
"By and large people are nice to me. I like walking down the street and chatting to people. I live in West London and people know they can come up and talk to me about Fulham [Football Club].
"I was down the shops today and someone came up from across the road and said: ‘Who are we going to sign?’ No preamble. That’s a nice thing to happen on the way to M&S."
Richard is also determined to ensure that 'Pointless' contestants enjoy their time on the show.
He said: "It’s terrifying for people to be up there. You can see people’s eyes go.
"Occasionally you’ll have someone on, and make-up will have said in the morning: ‘We didn’t like so-and-so. He was a bit rude.’ Then you are kind of like: ‘Hmm, interesting’. They get less of an easy ride.
"But, by and large, I want to make it as special as possible for people."
