Davina McCall has admitted it was extremely "emotional" working on 'The Masked Singer UK' season two during the global pandemic
Davina McCall says filming 'The Masked Singer UK' season two amid the Covid-19 pandemic was "next level emotional".
The former 'Celebrity Big Brother' host is back for the new series of the ITV celebrity singing contest, along with fellow panellists Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross and new member Mo Gilligan.
And the 53-year-old television presenter admitted she felt "so grateful" to be in other people's company.
As per The Mirror Online, Davina said: "I was grateful, so grateful to be with people.
"We all felt so privileged to be able come to work and be with other people, sat next to the people we love.
"It was next level emotional and exciting.”
Davina admitted it’s often “taken for granted” how “insane” it is that someone can “emote” behind a mask.
She continued: "Music moves me and takes me to a place of real deep feeling, deep emotional feeling very easily.
"So when see someone giving the performance of their life behind a mask, I mean this is just through physical actions alone, it's something else.
"Being able to emote behind all that costume when you're that hot and it's so hard to perform, and sometimes it's technical props all over the stage and dancers, you think, 'Oh my God, how are they doing this?'.
"You take it for granted. Sometimes they would perform and you would get a bit like, 'this is insane', this is an amazing show."
Davina’s comments come after the programme’s host Joel Dommett recently revealed the show hasn’t changed much, despite the restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
He said: "It's such a huge production, and the fact they've managed to get it done in such an insane amount of time.
"The only thing different is there are perspex divides between the panel. Pretty much everything is the same, the costumes are still absolutely mad, the suits are still mad, the panel is still crazy.
"If anyone thought they can't step it up from the first series, they have. It feels huge. The names are insane, like really insane."
Mo has joined the panel for this series as Ken Jeong was unable to travel due to the pandemic, and Joel believes the comedian is a "brilliant" addition to the show.
He said: "He's so good, brilliant.
"It was nice to have someone new in the mix. He threw out a lot of hilarious names, as did everyone.
"The panel is brilliant this year. We're so lucky everyone gets along – there are no crazy divas."
'The Masked Singer UK’ returns on Boxing Day (26.12.20) from 7pm on ITV.
