A 'RuPaul's Drag Race UK' contestant has been forced to quit the second series after testing positive for coronavirus

A 'RuPaul's Drag Race UK' star has tested positive for coronavirus.

The aspiring drag queen has been forced to quit the second series of the show – which is fronted by RuPaul Charles – after they tested positive during a break from filming last month.

A source on the BBC show said: “One of the best queens had to leave the competition because of Covid. They were a huge part of the show and it caused uproar – RuPaul was gutted.

“Viewers will be shocked when they watch, as it was a game-changing moment. It was hugely sad for the queen and everyone on the show.”

The upcoming series will air on January 14 and in the running to be crowned the UK's next Drag Superstar are Tayce, Joe Black, A'Whora, Tia Kofi, Ellie Diamond, Sister Sister, Veronica Green, Bimini Bon Boulash, Ginny Lemon, Asttina Mandella, Cherry Valentine, and Lawrence Cheney.

A tweet on the official Twitter account announced: "Santa called and said you can have one present early. The first episode of #DragRaceUK series two lands on @bbciplayer on January 14th at 7PM."

Ellie is this year's youngest queen to enter the drag competition at 21 years old, but makes herself stand out from the crowd with her cartoon-inspired looks and sky high heels.

She said: "I’m 6ft 4 out of heels, and in drag, I love to go even taller. I like the biggest wigs, heels, outfits, lashes, makeup and ass. I would describe my drag as a cartoon character that has come to life. If you were to search online for a photo of drag queen, then a picture of me would come up."

Veronica is the oldest queen in the competition after taking her drag inspiration from her baby sister.

She explained: "When I was a little boy, my brother and I used to make our own comic books, and when our baby sister, Veronica, came along we were so jealous that we created a supervillain in our comic books and called her Veronica Green! Unwittingly, my sister's birth sparked off my drag persona! She's going to be mortified at all of this – I stole her prom dress and everything."
