Catherine Tyldesley would love the opportunity to return to 'Coronation Street' in the future after she left the soap in 2018
Catherine Tyldesley wants to return to 'Coronation Street' "at some point".
The 37-year-old actress – who played Eva Price on the ITV soap – would lap up the chance to head back to the cobbles in the future, after she left in 2018 to pursue new projects and spend time with her family.
Appearing on 'Steph’s Packed Lunch' on Channel 4, she said: "I’ve been a fan since I was a little girl. Of course, at some point ... I’m really enjoying doing different projects and, touch wood, I’m really busy at the moment but 'Corrie' is so close to my heart. If the opportunity came up in the future, absolutely.”
Catherine announced she would be leaving the soap after seven years but 'Corrie' left the door open for her return.
Since then, she has been busy putting together her self-penned play 'The Ceremony' and has enjoyed bringing her work to life behind-the-scenes.
She explained: “It’s been brilliant, a great opportunity to raise money for the arts … We’ve somehow managed to assemble the most incredible cast and a brilliant director. I feel like I’m on cloud nine at the moment. It’s so lovely.”
However, the 'Scarborough' star found it "terrifying" transitioning from actress to working behind the camera, as she didn't know how people would react to her script.
Asked what it has been like to go from actress to playwright, she replied: “Terrifying! When I was giving people scripts, I was like ‘I think it’s funny … but maybe I’m just sat at home laughing at my own jokes.’
"Luckily, they found it funny and luckily the audience who have watched it already have been finding it funny, they’re really enjoying it.”
