The Scotch whisky brand is looking for help to tell their story and make their new venture thrive
If positive news on the jobs front is something of a rarity these days, Johnnie Walker Princes Street are thankfully bucking that trend. They're looking to fill more than 150 vacancies at their new visitor experience in Edinburgh, due to open in the city's west end during summer 2021.
Roles include bartenders, front of house and retail posts, while experience ambassadors are needed to provide a warm welcome and to guide guests through the building, and performance artists will bring the story of the world's biggest selling Scotch whisky and its makers to life. Those who have previously applied for positions will be considered without having to reapply.
Complete with two rooftop bars and a retail store, the visitor experience forms part of a wider £185million investment plan by distiller Diageo, with major work also being undertaken at 12 of its existing distilleries, and the revival of distilleries at Port Ellen and Brora.
Talking about what it means to be recruiting during a period of significant upheaval, Barbara Smith, managing director of Scotland Brand Homes explains, 'We know it is a difficult time for everyone across the hospitality and tourism industry with many people losing their jobs, which is why we are pleased to be able to restart the recruitment process and to create new high value jobs in the Edinburgh economy.'
On offer is a competitive benefits package, flexible working, extensive training and development, and the prospect of further career opportunities with Johnnie Walker and parent company Diageo. Successful applicants can expect to start in spring 2021, ahead of the summer opening date.
