'Hollyoaks' legend Kieron Richardson thinks he wouldn't have kids or be married if it wasn't for the Channel 4 soap, so he cannot ever see himself quitting the programme
Kieron Richardson doesn't think he would be married with children if it wasn't for 'Hollyoaks'.
The 34-year-old star – who has three-year-old twins Chase and Phoebe with his husband Carl Hyland – has played Ste Hay on the Channel 4 soap since 2006, and he cannot ever see himself quitting the show because he is so grateful to the programme.
He said: "I get quite protective over him and the show and I’m so grateful for all the opportunities that it’s given me in my personal life.
"I know for a fact that I wouldn’t have children now if it wasn’t for being in the show. I probably wouldn’t be married now, or I probably wouldn’t have come out so publicly.
"All of these things that have made my life a lot greater are because of being in this show.
"So I don’t think I would ever be like, 'Thank you, I’m done.' "
Kieron hopes Ste will stick around in the village long enough to see his kids Lucas and Leah grow up and have children of their own.
He is quoted by The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column as saying: "I would like to be in it for as long as possible, and watch Leah and Lucas have their children and hopefully Ste will still be bobbing about in his tracksuit."
Ste has been off our screens since November last year as Kieron took some time off following his hard-hitting far-right extremist plot, which saw the character radicalised.
But Kieron has since returned to the set.
