FLY partners with Ground Level Up and FELive to launch Music Is The Answer

Edinburgh's FLY, who are responsible for running numerous events in the city as well as one of Scotland's largest music festivals, have announced the launch of a new YouTube channel which will deliver a series of recorded online streams, filmed at unique locations around the country with some exceptional Scottish acts on board. Titled Music Is The Answer, the project is being launched in partnership with award-winning film production company Ground Level Up and world touring audio suppliers FELive, with the goal of giving audiences around the world a snapshot of Scotland and some of its renowned locations, as well as some of its best acts.

Having trialled the initiative as part of moving FLY Open Air Festival online in May, FLY saw some early success with over 50,000 views of their Jackmaster b2b Jasper James stream at Hopetoun House, which also resulted in thousands of pounds being raised for charity. Music Is The Answer (MITA) has already got great names involved, including Bathgate singer Luke La Volpe, producer Sam Gellaitry, Edinburgh indie-rock band Vistas, Glasgow pop duo HYYTS, Aberdeen grime MC Ransom FA, DJ and curator La La, Glasgow-based MC Oakzy B, singer-songwriters Aaron Smith, Callum Beattie and Christy and Dundee superstar Be Charlotte.

The first stream will kick off on Thu 16 Jul with La La playing a set at Kinross House. HYYTS will follow on Thu 23 Jul at the Forth Brides, then Ransom FA vs Oakzy B on Thu 30 Jul from McCaig's Tower. Be Charlotte will be performing at Dunnottar Castle, with the stream going online on Thu 6 Aug. More artists will be added to the line-up shortly but other confirmed locations include the Glenfinnan Viaduct and Inveraray Castle.

Fergus Myer, Music Is The Answer, said: 'With Covid-19 causing such a huge blow to all in the Music industry, it's been an incredibly difficult time, not just for venues and promoters but artists as well. There are so many artists out there who will lose momentum with their live shows, release streaming numbers or perhaps won't manage to get going at all.

Music Is The Answer will help us to push the boundaries beyond discovering, supporting and championing talent – something we (FLY) always strive towards. The visual element will create an experience and allow a global audience, with a range of interests, to really connect with the artists and breathtaking locations, at a time travel & live shows are not permitted as well as when we return to normality.

Music has the ability to change your mood and with everyone's mental health suffering throughout lockdown, we believe that lifting people's spirits through music can help.'

Subscribe to the Music Is The Answer YouTube channel for further updates and keep an eye on FLY's social channels for alerts about the regular streams.
