The Scottish band's first live album is now available on Bandcamp on a pay-what-you-want basis

The Twilight Sad surprised fans today with the release of a It Won/t Be Like This All the Time Live, a collection of live recordings taken from the band's past year of extensive touring. The album is currently available exclusively on Bandcamp on a pay-what-you-want basis.

'We have been talking about recording a live album for a long time. We think this is the best we've been playing as a live band and wanted to document that. With five albums of material we felt now was the time,' the band said in a statement.

The album includes live recordings from the band's extensive 2019 tour, including their largest-ever headline show held at Edinburgh's Usher Hall on 30 Nov. In addition to songs from The Twilight Sad's five acclaimed studio albums, the band's powerful live cover of Frightened Rabbit's 'Keep Yourself Warm' is also included. The band hope that the album will provide fans some comfort during these difficult times.

'Over the past few months we were figuring out how to release the album and then covid-19/lockdown/gig cancellations happened. We decided that we would release the album digitally on a pay-what-you-want basis,' the band said. 'The reason behind this is that we know that financially it is a worrying time for a lot of people and for ourselves included. We wanted to make sure we could give everyone who likes our band one of our gigs live in their living room as we can't be out in the world playing gigs right now. We wanted to make sure that anyone who wants the album can afford it as well'.

Before the COVID-19 lockdown, the band was meant to be performing iconic gigs at Glasgow's Barrowland Ballroom tonight and tomorrow night. The gigs have been postponed until September and the band will now participate in a Twitter listening party for the new live album tomorrow night, hosted by The Charlatans' Tim Burgess. All five members of the band will be online to share memories from past gigs and they are encouraging fans to join in using #timstwitterlisteningparty.

It Won't Be Like This All the Time Live is available exclusively on Bandcamp now and will be available on other DSPs from Fri 15 May. The live album listening party with Tim Burgess will be held on Twitter on Fri 17 April at 10pm. Tweet #timstwitterlisteningparty to get involved.
