Titled 'Everyday Sun', the single is the first to be taken from the Idlewild frontman's forthcoming solo EP

Roddy Woomble – best known for his work with indie rock band Idlewild – has announced a forthcoming EP, and has also released its first single, titled 'Everyday Sun', to whet the appetites of longtime fans.

Woomble was first propelled into the limelight when Idlewild formed in the late 1990s, quickly taking over the airwaves and garnering accolades for their albums 100 Broken Windows and The Remote Part. Woomble released his debut solo record, My Secret is my Silence, in 2006, which took the number one spot in the UK Folk Charts. Since then, he's released a total of five solo albums, including his 2008 collaborative album Before the Ruin with folk musicians Kris Drever and John McCusker. After going into hiatus in 2010, Idlewild reunited in 2013 and has since released two albums, Everything Ever Written and Interview Music.

Woomble's upcoming EP sees him work collaboratively with Idlewild bandmate Andrew Mitchell (who also releases music under the name Andrew Wasylysk), and promises a new musical style distinctly unlike his previous work. Woomble will later tour the UK in support of his new EP, stopping off in Arbroath, Paisley, Cardiff, Brighton, London and more.
