Castle of Light runs for six weeks this winter in what promises to be a delight for the entire family
Edinburgh Castle is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Scottish capital, with millions of visitors making their way through its gates every year, and the seasonal use of the grounds for popular events such as the Military Tattoo has firmly set it as an Edinburgh staple. As the festive season approaches, local and visiting families can look forward to seeing the castle in a new light (literally).
Castle of Light runs from Thu 14 Nov–Sun 22 Dec, giving people of all ages the chance to see Scottish history come to life through brilliant animations, state-of-the-art projections and engaging storytelling.
Promising to be the 'biggest light experience' in the Edinburgh city centre, this 90-minute experience blends digital and visual talent to fully immerse visitors in the history of the capital's landmark.
The illuminated walking tour was created by Double Take Projections, NL Productions, Andy McGregor Design and War Productions Ltd, in partnership with HES, who have created projection shows all over the world, and now bring their expertise to Scotland.
Andy McGregor, Creative Director of Castle of Light, said: 'This is an amazing opportunity to create a major lighting projection event for the truly iconic site that is Edinburgh Castle – a place recognised throughout the world and one which embodies so much Scottish history … As a team, we will be drawing on the history, geology, mythology and the sheer drama of the site to conjure a spectacle that we hope will excite, entertain and enlighten audiences of all ages and backgrounds.'
Castle of Light, Edinburgh Castle, Thu 14 Nov–Sun 22 Dec, £20 (£12–40).
