The award-winning 'Uptown Funk' hitmaker marks the first time a DJ has headlined Hogmanay
Though the Christmas season may seem ages away yet, Edinburgh's Hogmanay have today announced the first major headliner for their iconic year-end bash as multi-award-winning DJ and producer Mark Ronson.
Known for his golden touch as a producer with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Adele and Lady Gaga, Ronson is also responsible for ubiquitous earworms like 'Uptown Funk' and 'Shallow', the latter for which he won an Academy Award. His most recent album, Late Night Feelings, was released in June, and featured such radio-friendly hits as 'Nothing Breaks Like A Heart' with Miley Cyrus, and 'Late Night Feelings' with Lykke Li.
Edinburgh's Hogmanay is set to return to the Scottish capital this winter with their usual three-day extravaganza of live music, theatre, festive events and more. Produced by Underbelly, last year the festival saw a draw of 150,000 people coming to the city to party out the old and ring in the new year.
'Edinburgh's Hogmanay continues to be the best New Year's Party in the world,' says Councillor Donald Wilson, Edinburgh's Culture and Communities Convener, of the announcement. 'With Mark Ronson as our headliner, this promises to be one of our finest celebrations yet. With his impressive back catalogue and current chart toppers what better way to say goodbye to 2019, bring in the bells and herald in the new decade.'
Tickets will be available from Monday 22 July at 10am at edinburghshogmanay.com.
