Lewis Capaldi added to Glasgow's TRNSMT Festival lineup

Snow Patrol can't make it, so local legend Capaldi is stepping in on Sunday

Lewis Capaldi is heading for TRNSMT Festival on Glasgow Green on Sun 14 Jul. Due to medical reasons, Snow Patrol are unable to perform at this year's TRNSMT Festival and will be replaced by the Bathgate-born singer songwriter. Tickets for TRNSMT are on sale now.

Capaldi's debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, came out on Fri 17 May and shot to No. 1 on the UK chart. The album features hits 'Grace' and 'Someone You Loved'. Following a 11-date tour this November, Capaldi will head out on a huge UK tour next March. Capaldi will play at the Glasgow festival ahead of George Ezra's closing headline set.

Snow Patrol issues the following statement: 'Our dear brother, piano and guitar player Johnny Mcdaid has a serious problem with his neck and after consulting with some top neurosurgeons they are all in agreement that the only course of action is immediate surgery. Am sure you all understand that at this point the most important thing is to take time to let our brothers heal and recover so we need to cancel the forthcoming shows we are billed to play in Europe this summer up to Latitude on the 20th of July to give them both time to recover. '
