Shop, relax, eat and have fun. Discover something for everyone this summer at Ocean Terminal
With Oor Wullie's Big Bucket Trail, a weekly artisan farmers market, plus your favourite high street brands, there's more to shop, more to eat and more to do at Ocean Terminal, soon to be known as Porta.
Leith is home to a vibrant community of some of the finest artisans and craftspeople in Scotland, and this summer Ocean Terminal are proud to be putting them on display with a weekly farmers market featuring makers, designers and producers from the local area, celebrating everything that makes Leith special. At this relaxed market, visitors can expect to see an array of exhibiting stalls from confectionary to handcrafted gifts, some of which will be made on site by the local artisans.
The diversity of the market promises to offer a hugely positive and alternative shopping experience from the great brands that are available at the centre already. The various exhibitors will be chosen from a collection of natural and low/no plastic businesses, and the market will also run in support of young entrepreneurs, delivering an opportunity for the local businesses and young traders to reach out to the community by providing them with access to sell in the busy shopping space.
Oor Wullie's Big Bucket Trail runs for 11 weeks from Mon 17 Jun until Fri 30 Aug 2019. Scotland's first ever national public art trail will unite the country as it raises awareness and vital funds for Scotland's children's hospital charities. Located at Ocean Terminal will be two large sculptures which are based on The Proclaimers and created by artist Vanessa Gibson, plus around 20 mini Oor Wullie sculptures designed and decorated by schools and groups in Edinburgh, Lothians and the Borders. These will be available to view on the ground floor at the main entrance.
Ocean Terminal also provides the perfect mix of shopping, eating and leisure for a great family day out. Visitors can enjoy a fantastic selection of both high street and independent brands, an array of foodie favourite eating establishments, cafes and independent street food operators, leisure offerings including soft play area, skatepark, roller rink and a luxury cinema and not to forget one of Edinburgh's top attractions, The Royal Yacht Britannia; all of which are indoors, affordable for a fun day out and accessible with easy car parking and public transport.
